Five phases, one trajectory
Each phase builds on the one before. The first starts now; it rests on a pilot that has already run.
-
Phase 1 Status : Under way
Validate agri-food processing sites
- Goal
- Choose the first sites for a 5,000 to 10,000 L (5 to 10 m³) unit, based on their waste and their energy needs.
- What it unlocks
- Commercial launch: the first unit installed at a customer's site.
Duration: 7 days at most.
5,000 to 10,000 L
i.e. 5 to 10 m³
Phase 1 integrated biomethanation unit Nature : target
-
Phase 2 Status : Coming next
Sell biogas to gas-using small businesses
- Goal
- Supply purified biogas to small and medium-sized businesses that cook with gas, including restaurants and hotels.
- What it unlocks
- Recurring revenue and demand that justifies more units.
-
Phase 3 Status : Coming next
Equip rural communities
- Goal
- Bring biogas to rural communities and build units there that turn local waste into purified biogas.
- What it unlocks
- Cooking gas made on the spot, where firewood dominates today.
-
Phase 4 Status : Coming next
Move the bioenergy framework forward
- Goal
- Work with the authorities so that biogas can be bottled and sold to gas-using small businesses, rural households and urban households.
- What it unlocks
- Distribution of biogas beyond the sites that produce it.
-
Phase 5 Status : Coming next
Scale up
- Goal
- Expand beyond national borders and into new segments. Connect whole neighbourhoods: each neighbourhood has its own unit, and each household pays by flow or by use, as on a gas network.
- What it unlocks
- A local biogas network, one unit at a time.
Phase 1 is looking for its sites.
